Pyongyang, June 29 (KCNA) -- Mt. Myohyang, one of the famous mountains in Korea, boasts of biodiversity.
The mountain has different habitats in valleys.
What is important in the mountain's biodiversity is the water ecosystem made up of many waterfalls and streams.
The mountain has many varieties of living things.
The species of the plants in the mountain are believed to be over 1 000.
The animals include musk deer, otter and black woodpecker and the species of butterflies total more than 150.
A survey made a few years ago shows that there are over 190 kinds of birds and the number is expected to reach 220-230 in the future.
The mountain was registered as an international biosphere reserve by UNESCO in May Juche 98 (2009).
