VP reviews Yemen's political, development progress

IBB, Sep. 11 (Saba)- Vice president Abdu Rabu Mansour Hadi held on
Thursday a reception ceremony on Ramadan in Ibb governorate during
which he met with locals of the governorate to discuss with them all
issues of interest to the nation as well as the governorate.

Hadi pointed out to what the country has passed through during the
recent period at the political, democratic, development and social
levels.

In the political arena, the vice president affirmed that Yemen is an
undivided part of the world and its interests are connected to this
world. According to Yemen's geographical location, it overlooks two
important seas, the Red Sea and the Arabian Sea as well as it
connects the east with the west.

At the democratic level, Hadi noted that the General People's
Congress (GPC) won confidence of voters in the presidential and
local elections of 2006 and President Ali Abdullah Saleh's platform
got more than 75% of the voters and, therefore, we have now to
implement it along with the rest of the political system, out of
which the Joint Meeting Parties (GMP) and parties of the National
Opposition Council (NOC).

He also talked about meetings and consultations held with opposition
parties following the announcement of elections of governors.

He also reviewed steps of forming the Supreme Commission for
Elections and Referendum (SCER) which were conducted in
collaboration with all parties, noting that if candidate names of
the opposition to partake in the supervision committees of amending
voters' lists are not submitted by September 20, the SCER will be
forced to implement its procedures according to the law.

Moreover, Hadi reviewed the political, economic, financial and
administrative reforms included in the presidential and local
council platform.

As for Saada, he called locals of the governorate to cooperate with
the country in order to strongly settle pillars of security and
stability, noting that release decision for the detainees was meant
to prepare a good environment for a national work.
