Australian netballers on target for title
(AAP)- Australia's preparation for a successful netball title defence is on track after a four-day training camp ahead of next week's world championship.
The Australians have arrived in Singapore for the week-long competition, starting on Sunday, after coach Norma Plummer put the side through their paces in Hong Kong.
The Diamonds open the tournament against Samoa next Monday night, followed by group games against Northern Ireland and Sri Lanka before the finals.
Plummer said the only damage during the training camp was to the players' credit cards.
"They worked hard and only yesterday got out to do a bit of shopping, so there may be a bit of damage to the credit cards but, overall, the work ethic of the girls was terrific and I'm very happy with how it went," Plummer said.
The camp gave the defending champions the opportunity to fine tune combinations and strategies with the full squad of 16 players on hand, including the four training partners in Clare McMeniman, Amy Steel, Caitlin Thwaites and Vanessa Ware.
"It was a great exercise and certainly covered what we wanted to do," Plummer said.
"We have a couple of light training sessions scheduled for Singapore and I think the players will come up very fresh."
Australia's world championship campaign received a boost with the announcement that all Diamonds' matches will be broadcast on Network Ten's OneHD, along with a daily highlights' package.
Coverage of group games will be delayed while the semi-final and final, if involving Australia, will be televised live.
