RELO WORKS IN KHOVD AND BAYAN-OLGII
Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, /MONTSAME/ A regional English language officer (RELO) Alice Murray has visited Khovd University to conduct a one-day training for English Language teachers of the university and the region.
She presented a session on "The Cultural Value of Proverbs" and shared new trends in a workshop titled "Reflecting upon Your Teaching Practices" to a group of 20 teachers from Khovd aimag' University and secondary schools.
Next year, the English Language Fellow (ELF) will be assigned to Khovd University for the first time. Alice Murray and Cultural Affairs Specialist for PAS Ulaanbaatar Otgon Yongondiin had productive meetings with administrative officials about this and also discussed future collaborative projects.
The RELO also has visited the Access Program summer camp in Tsengel soum, Bayan-Olgii aimag. This is the 5th year that post has successfully implemented this unique intensive English learning program for economically disadvantaged students. Fifty ethnic Kazakh teenagers are there to learn English through American culture with the help of Peace Corp Volunteers and one Mongolian teacher of English.
