Top importers of Thai products receive ‘Thailand’s Best Friends’ awards
BANGKOK, June 24 (TNA) - Over 100 importers from 30 countries have received awards under Thailand’s Best Friends export promotion program.
Thai caretaker commerce minister Pornthiva Nakasai said that the awardees are among top importers of Thai products in terms of volume, and that the scheme is aimed at boosting business relations between Thailand and international trading partners, as the Thai government has targeted to expand Thai exports by some 15 per cent this year, worth about 225 billion US dollars.
Pornthiva acknowledged that under the Thai government's current export strategy, Thailand is more emphasizing on exports of service and digital products.
According to official statistics, Thai exports soared by 27.4 per cent year-on-year during the first four months of this year, amounting to some 74.4 billion US dollars. (TNA)
