M'SIAN FASHION COMPANIES CONCLUDE RM4 MLN SALES AT PARIS FASHION SHOW

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 11 (Bernama) -- Malaysian fashion companies managed to conclude sales of about RM4 million and register serious enquiries for future potential sales at the "Who's Next 2008", a leading fashion trade exhibition in Paris, France recently.

In a statement here today, Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation
(Matrade) said the Malaysian designers - consisting of skillful and vibrant
designers who have won many accolades - showcased their personal sense of style
through their collections which were on display at the show.

"Given their success at this year's event, the Malaysian fashion companies
have indicated their interest to participate in next year's show as Paris is the
acknowledged venue for fashion designers to penetrate world markets," it
said.

The event, which ran from Sept 4 to 7, received over 42,000 visitors,
including 18,000 international buyers, buying houses, fashion magazines and over
1,000 local and international media representatives.

Visitors to the Malaysian pavilion had the opportunity to taste Malaysian
delights in the lounge which was decorated with elegant batik motives and a
tropical garden to create a Malaysian atmosphere.
