Government officials told to be neutral in July 3 election

BANGKOK, June 22 (TNA) - The Election Commission of Thailand (EC) has called on officials of the Provincial Administration Department to be neutral and to strictly comply with electoral rules during the country's ongoing electoral period.
Election commissioner Prapun Naigowit made the call at a seminar held at the Muang Thong Thani in Bangkok's suburban Nontaburi Province to prepare for the country's forthcoming general election, set on July 3, saying that the upcoming national poll is considered an important step for Thailand as it is a good way out of political woes and a reflection of people’s opinions and decisions.
The election commissioner admitted that his most serious concerns have centred on advance voting, as there have been problems and complaints in many areas, insisting that administrative officials need to remain neutral and strictly comply with laws and regulations, particularly those tasked with collecting electoral ballots and stationing at polling units across the country.
