Iran official urges amendments to UN structure

Tehran, June 22, IRNA – Deputy Foreign Minister for European Affairs Ali Ahani stressed the need for amending the UN’s structure and involvement of all countries in the global management.

In a meeting with the Serbian special envoy Darko Tanaskovic, he also questioned the NATO’s military interference in Libya and noted that the West should set aside its double-standard policies.

Referring to potentials of Iran and Serbia, he also hoped that bilateral ties wouldl further improve.

Commenting on Kosovo’s recent developments, Ahani further stated that Iran’s stance, as before, is based on the international regulations and observance of rights of regional nations including Muslims.

Tanaskovic, for his part, referred to Iran’s ancient history and culture and called for Iran’s support for Belgrade’s stance regarding Kosovo./end
