DSI asked to prosecute Yingluck for perjury in a Shin Corp share concealment case

BANGKOK, June 21 (TNA) - The People’s Network against Amnesty for Corrupted former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra is seeking the prosecution of the Pheu Thai Party’s top list candidate, Yingluck Shinawatra, with Thailand’s Department of Special Investigation (DSI).

Tul Sitthisomwong, leader of the multi-coloured-shirts group, and Kaewsun Atibhodi, member of the now-defunct Assets Scrutiny Committee, filed the petition on Tuesday against Yingluck for making false statements with the Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) and the Assets Scrutiny Committee (ASC), in connection with a Shin Corp share concealment case.

Tul said that the petition was not meant to bully a woman but rather to restore justice to the country, while Kaewsun said his network would also file similar petition with the Office of the Attorney-General and the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).

Meanwhile, DSI Director-General Tharit Pengdit said that his task force will examine all the evidences to see if the case was under the jurisdiction of the DSI. He said the DSI would keep informing the public about the progress of the case, which drew nearly 4,000 petition signatures from across the country. (TNA)
