Minju Joson on Lee Myung Bak's U-Turn in Attitude to N-S Joint Declaration

Pyongyang, June 21 (KCNA) -- The Lee Myung Bak regime of south Korea now says it respects the June 15 joint declaration, a U-turn from its past attitude of denying and slandering it. Describing this as a political cartoon, Minju Joson Tuesday says in a by-lined commentary:
The north-south relations were driven to a bankruptcy. The Koreans at home and abroad are demanding south Korea repeal its current DPRK policy, saying it has pushed to the worst phase the north-south relations that had favorably developed after the publication of the declaration. Events for reunification held in south Korea to mark the 11th anniversary of the declaration heard strong voices urging the punishment of the regime.
The south Korean people's anti-government struggle is now gaining momentum, worsening the ruling crisis of the regime, which already sustained a defeat at the April by-election.
If the regime truly respects the declaration, it should make apology to the Korean nation for its crimes and step down as demanded by the people.
