PREMIER MEETS MRS. MARIA BARRADOS
Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, /MONTSAME/ The Prime Minister S.Batbold received Tuesday a delegation headed by Mrs. Maria Barrados, the president of the Public Service Commission of Canada. Mrs. Barrados has arrived to attend a national forum themed “Reform of state service: Challenge and opportunity” to be co-organized June 23 by the Government and the State Service Council of Mongolia.
The Premier has requested Mrs. Barrados to convey a congratulatory word to Stephen Joseph Harper on being re-elected as the Prime Minister of Canada and on victory of his party in the parliamentary election. The Premier has thanked the Canadian side for replying to his letter with a request to give technical and financial assistance in realizing a memorandum of mutual understanding on exchanging experiences and information in the state service reform. This document was established between Mongolia's State Service Council and the Public Service Commission of Canada (PSCC) during the Premier's visit to Canada paid last year.
The Prime Minister has said he aims to develop the transparent, fair, skilled, professional and sustainable state service in Mongolia, and noted that studying the experiences of the Canadian Public Service Commission is a great opportunity to make this reform.
He has said the upcoming forum will be organized under an aspiration of the government to launch some measures for reforming the State Service Council. An importance has been underlined of improving of skills of trained staffers, refining upon the mechanism of selection, developing the state service based on objective documents and formula, he has said.
In response, Mrs. Barrados has expressed her satisfaction with visiting Mongolia. She has mentioned that some skilled lawyers came from Canada to take part in the upcoming forum. "I hope that will give good advice and share experiences in reforming the state service," she has added.
Mrs. Barrados has said she wants to run discussion and training to continue the forum, believing the state service reform would be done faster than in other countries.
S.Batbold has expressed a gratitude to Mrs. Barrados for sincere help in introducing the Canadian model of state service reform to Mongolia. Then he has hoped that it will be implemented successfully.
