Court, again, rejects bail for two red-shirt leaders

BANGKOK, June 21 (TNA) - Bangkok's Criminal Court, again, rejected on Tuesday a request for a temporary release on bail for two red-shirt leaders, Jatuporn Prompan and Nisit Sinthuprai, who have been detained on terrorism charges.
The court decided to uphold previous judicial verdicts against the duo, saying that reasons to keep them detained at Bangkok Remand Prison have been clear and remained intact.
The bail request for the two leading red-shirts, two-million-baht each, was earlier filed by Jatuporn's wife and a lawyer of their red-clad National United Front of Democracy against Dictatorship (UDD).
The lawyer insisted, however, that he would file an optional request on June 27 to seek the court's permission for a one-day release of Jatuporn on July 3; so, he can cast his ballot on the national polling day, claiming that Jatuporn, a former MP and a party list candidate of the Pheu Thai Party, needs to exercise his electoral right to maintain his political candidacy right.
