THAI acquires two more planes

BANGKOK, June 21 (TNA) - Thai Airways International, or THAI, the national flag carrier, has acquired two more planes into its modern 87-passenger-aircraft fleet.

THAI President Piyasvasti Amranand said on Tuesday during a Buddhist religious ceremony to auspiciously add the two new planes into THAI's fleet that the two maiden aircraft, a 292-seat Boeing 777-200 ER royally-named "Pathumwan" and a 299-seat Airbus 330-300 royally-named "Sri Ayutthaya", has been equipped with contemporary high-technological engines and entertainment systems to serve international passengers.

According to the THAI chief, the Boeing 777-200 ER will be used on the national airline's Bangkok-Johannesburg route, passing through Oslo, Milan, Auckland and Melbourne and vice versa; while the Airbus 330-300 aircraft will be used on a major route in Asia passing through Nagoya, Fukuoka and Osaka in Japan and Shanghai in China.
