Self-reliance, natural conservation Thai community gets support from EGAT

BANGKOK, June 20 (TNA) - The Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) has presented a generator and another nine million baht financial assistance to sponsor the construction of a hydraulic power plant to people of the Klong Rua Village in the country's southern Chumphon Province, as part of its policy on supporting local communities which follow His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyade's advice on the sufficiency economy concept.

EGAT Governor Sutat Patamasiriwat presided over a ceremony on Monday to present the 100-kilowatt electricity generator and the additional financial assistance to representatives of the Klong Rua Village in Chumphon's Pak Song Sub-district under the Pa Toh District.

According to the EGAT chief, the Klong Rua Village is a Thai community well-known for the upright conservation of its Kuan Mae Yai Mon Forest over the past 25 years, making the area to become one of Thailand's major and natural upstream water sources.

The EGAT governor said that his state-run agency's contribution to the Klong Rua Village is also an activity under its project on advocating the management and the development of power and the conservation of natural resources and environment in Thailand's southern region. (TNA)
