BANGKOK, June 19 (TNA) - A total of 371 candidates from 12 political parties running in Thailand’s July 3 election have sought police protection while police are keeping close eyes on possible violence in 63 constituencies in the country.
National police chief Pol Gen Wichean Potephosree acknowledged that police were busy providing security for all MP candidates campaigning for votes, particularly in 63 constituencies where competition were fierce.
He said that police had so far received 70 complaints about violations to the election law, most of which concerned the destruction of campaign placards. They had also received complaints concerning 12 politically “biased” government officers.
