Thai minister leaves for World Heritage Committee meeting
BANGKOK, June 18 (TNA) - Thai caretaker Natural Resource and Environment Minister Suwit Khunkitti has left for Paris to attend the 35th World Heritage Committee Meeting under the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO), scheduled for June 19-29.
During the 10-day meeting, Suwit will seek the World Heritage Committee's endorsement for Thailand's proposed delay over the UNESCO panel's consideration on a management plan of the Preah Vihear Temple raised by neighbouring Cambodia.
Suwit insisted information compiled by Thai authorities has found that some parts of the ancient Preah Vihear Temple along the Thai-Cambodian border are located on the Thai soil. (TNA)
