Daily minimum wages in Bangkok likely to be raised by Bt5-9

BANGKOK, June 18 (TNA) - An advisor to a sub-committee in charge of considering the minimum wage in Bangkok says it is now likely that the minimum wage in the Thai capital will be raised by 5-9 baht a day.
The advisor, Ammorn Chaovarit, revealed the sub-committee had agreed that a new wage hike in Bangkok should be 5-9 baht a day, with the final figure to be later concluded.
Ammorn said that the increase in daily minimum wages nationwide is expected to take effect soon, given that Thailand's inflation rate is edging up to some 3.3 per cent, showing the rising costs of living. (TNA)
