Sci-tech planning for socio-economic development discussed

Hanoi (VNA) - Vietnam is willing to cooperate with other countries for the target of socio-economic development, affirmed Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Tran Quoc Thang at a seminar in Hanoi on September 10.

The seminar entitled "Study and renovation: policy and mechanism for
sci-tech planning and public-private cooperation" drew the participation of
scientists and policy makers from member countries of the Asia-Pacific
Economic Cooperation forum.

To promote the effectiveness of sci-tech development programmes for
socio-economic development, participants recommended more attention to
knowledge-based socio-economic development issues.

They discussed priority areas for sci-tech renovation, strategies and
challenges to the implementation of sci-tech policies and the establishment
of a network to bring sci-tech results from labs to the market.

The seminar was jointly held by the Ministry of Science and Technology and
the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS).-Enditem
