Talabani, Nijaifi discuss political situation

President Jalal Talabani discussed with Speaker of Parliament, Usama al-Nijaifi, the country’s political developments.
A statement issued on Thursday, June 16, by the President’s Office said, “Talabani met on Thursday evening with Nijaifi, shedding light on his meeting Wednesday evening with his two vice presidents and the statement issued afterward stressing the importance of creating positive environments for a suitable ground toward serious dialogue between all political parties.”
It added, “Talabani clarified that his vice presidents are working as one cohesive team and stand at equal distances from all blocs and entities.”
Talabani added, “We all in the same ship and must take it a safety.”
For his part, Nijaifie asserted full support to the President’s statement calling for disregarding diversity and resort to dialogue and negotiation, calling on President Talabani to continue his efforts toward starting serious and constructive dialogue between all political sides and to implement agreements.
Nijaifi added that Parliament will issue a statement supporting the President’s statement for removing tension and calming the situation, praising the President’s efforts toward bringing various points of view close together
