Anti-corruption meeting planned by Thai private sector

BANGKOK, June 16 (TNA) - The Thai private sector will organise an anti-corruption meeting in Bangkok on June 29 to work out action plans and mechanisms and to form an information center in which people will be invited to join forces against corruption in the country.

Dusit Nontanakorn, Chairman of the Thai Chamber of Commerce, in his capacity as the chair of the private Anti-Corruption Network, said that some 23 partners of the network will join the mission, and that he hopes Thailand will learn lessons from Hong Kong and Korea, which had spent 37 years and 20 years respectively to stop corruption. Given the lessons, Dusit noted, Thailand should be able to stop corruption faster.

Meanwhile, the chairman of the Thai Chamber of Commerce projected that the Thai economy should grow by 4-5 per cent this year as targeted, urging, however, all parties concerned to join forces toward quality industries of Thailand for the sake of the Kingdom's sustainable economic growth. (TNA)
