OIC Chief, Kazakh Envoy discuss Islamic FMs Forum in Astana
Jeddah, September 10, SPA -- The Secretary General of the
Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC), Professor Ekmeleddin
Ihsanoglu, has received Khairat Lama Sharif, the Ambassador of the
Republic of Kazakhstan to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
During the meeting held on September 08, 2008, they discussed
preparations in the run up to the Forum of the Ministers of Foreign
Affairs of Islamic Countries to be held in Astana, Kazakhstan, on
October 17, 2008, under the title 'One Common World: Progress through
Diversity'.
Discussions touched upon the role of the OIC in and its contribution
to the success of the Forum.
Kazakh Ambassador expressed his deep appreciation of the Secretary
General's approval to participate in the Forum. The Secretary
General, for his part, welcomed the upcoming Forum which will benefit
the Islamic world.
The two officials also examined the preparations conducted by
Kazakhstan to ensure the success of the Meeting of the Council of
Foreign Ministers of Islamic countries scheduled to be held in 2011.
Ambassador Lama Sharif assured the Secretary General that Kazakhstan
deploys all possible efforts to reinforce its cooperation with the
OIC and the role it will play to boost understanding between the West
and the Muslim world, especially during its Chairmanship of the
Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE).
