"Abhisit" agrees to join June 23 political debate

BANGKOK, June 14 (TNA) - Thai caretaker minister attached to the Prime Minister's Office Satit Wonghnongtaey announced Tuesday that Thai caretaker prime minister and his Democrat Party's leader Abhisit Vejjajiva has agreed to join a debate of leaders of six Thai political parties on June 23 organised and invited by the People's Network for Election in Thailand or Pnet.
Sathit said that the six invited political parties are deemed to play their crucial roles in the formation of the next Thai government after the country's forthcoming general election, set on July 3, but he did not name the five other parties.
Sathit noted that Abhisit has also accepted Pnet’s invitation for a proposed debate with the Puea Thai party’s top list candidate Yingluck Shinawatra, on June 24 to show their visions.
Yingluck, the 43-year-old youngest sister of exiled ex-Thai premier Thaksin Shinawatra and a leading Thai business woman-turned politician, has not yet accepted the Pnet invitation. Pnet has reportedly given her until June 17 to decide on its invitation. (TNA)
