Zebari, Pascoe discuss Iraq's relations with UN

Baghdad (NINA) – Foreign Minister, Hoshyar Zebari, discussed with the UN Under-Secretary-General for Political Affairs, B. Lynn Pascoe, the relations between Iraq and the United Nations.

A statement issued on Sunday, June 12, by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that in the meeting, the two discussed the relations between Iraq and the UN and the role of the UN through UN Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI) within its jurisdiction according to the related Security Council resolutions, especially with regards to providing consultation, support, help and coordination with the concerned Iraqi sides to improve their capabilities to provide services.

It added that they also touched on the region's political changes and Iraq's role, being an economic power in aiding the regions' countries toward achieving economic development and consolidates security and peace.

They also talked on the UN Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI) works in Iraq and means to help it succeed in its task. / End.
