Dawa Party demands Allawi to publically apologize to it

Baghdad (NINA) - Islamic Dawa Party demanded head of the Iraqiya Slate, Dr. Iyad Allawi, to publically apologize for the party and for the Iraqi people, upon the background of the speech that Allawi gave last Friday.

The party said, in a statement issued on Sunday “the Iraqi people was surprised by the inflammatory and aggressive tone in the speech recited by Dr. Allawi on Friday. Allawi appeared like he was reciting a statement of war, a kind of speeches that we believe that the new Iraq got rid of them forever, as part of the culture of the threat and intimidating and irresponsible talk that brought nothing to Iraq but the scourges of war, destruction, and backwardness."

The statement added "Allawi’s speech, which he gave from outside Iraq, was a bunch of insults and phrases that were far from the most basic amenities of political address. He addressed the Islamic Dawa Party, sometimes, and the government and its institutions at other times, and the demonstrators who gathered in Tahrir Square who were demanding the utmost punishments to the terrorists and murderers, he described them with abusive and inappropriate terms."

The statement continued "we demand Allawi to publically apologize to the Iraqi people and the Islamic Dawa Party and to the families of the victims that he even did not condole with a single word in his speech at the time he is known for his blessings to the founders and leaders of Saddam's Baath party in many interviews and statements."

Allawi recited a televised speech last Friday in which he attacked the Dawa Party, and accused its leader Nouri Al Maliki on counting on foreigners to stay in power.
