Thai Election Commission expects an unofficial polling result at about 9pm on July 3
BANGKOK, June 12 (TNA) - The Thai Election Commission (EC) expects to know the unofficial outcome of the July 3 election at 9pm on the election date.
Election commissioner Prapun Naigowit, who supervises the election organization, and national police chief Pol Gen Wichean Potephosree said on the Modern 9 TV channel, a local TV Channel, Sunday that the unofficial result of the polling should be known at about 9pm on July 3. He also urged eligible voters to exercise their right as registration for advance voting in native districts would start tomorrow.
Mr Prapun said that the Election Commission was considering the request of the European Union asking the EC to allow its representatives to come and observe the election. He said that the EC had no intent to reject any observer as the election would be organized with transparency, honesty and be internationally recognized.
He declined to comment when reporters asked if a complaint by the European Union observer would have any impact on the election of Thailand. He only said that the Election Commission would try its best to ensure a smooth election. (TNA)
