Thai caretaker prime minister to attend the World Economic Forum on East Asia in Jakarta

BANGKOK, June 12 (TNA) - Thai Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva will attend the 20th World Economic Forum (WEF) on East Asia in Jakarta, Indonesia, on June 13.
Mr Abhisit told the journalists that at the forum he would emphasize Thailand’s role as the host of the next economic forum next year. He noted that it was the first time that the economic grouping entrusted Thailand to host the forum and allowed the country to publicize its readiness for the organization in this year’s event.
The caretaker premier also said he was confident that Thailand’s role as the host next year would boost investor confidence, national incomes and the long-term image of the country.
Mr Abhisit viewed this trip as an opportunity to make Thailand known to businessmen around the globe. In Jakarta, he would meet with top businessmen and give interviews with the world’s leading foreign journalists.
Mr Abhisit said he would also tell the world leaders attending the forum about the country’s economic solutions, long-term economic potential, and plan for creative economy and sustainable development, and would inform the forum that democracy has always been honored in Thailand and the upcoming election will move it further forward.
The caretaker premier said that his government’s performance over the past two years had convinced the grouping to have its forum held in Bangkok for the first time. (TNA)
