Coordination Commission for the Popular Movement accuses the government of practicing "repression and mouth muzzling"

Baghdad (NINA) - Coordination Commission for Popular Movement accused the government of exercising muzzling mouths and repression policy and abuse the right of peaceful demonstrators.

the commission said, in a statement read out during a press conference organized today in the presence of a number of demonstrators who were injured during a demonstration yesterday in Tahrir Square, "the government reveals, day after day, its actual repressive and sectarian reality, and here it is proving its failure, once again, by committing a new crime against the Iraqi people yesterday, during the “decision and departure Friday.”

It continued "the 100 days period ended, and instead of announcing its reform policies; Maliki’s government strongly implemented the policy of muzzling mouths, repression and assault with weapons against the people that went to claim their rights peacefully in a civilized manner.”

the commission concluded "a number of (bullies and thugs) belonging to the intelligence and security systems have entered into Tahrir Square, in civilian clothes, and attacked the demonstrators, using knives, razor blades and sticks and dispersed the demonstration by force.”
