Internet community warned of cyber security

BANGKOK, June 11 (TNA) - Thai authorities have called for better public awareness over cyber security from new challenges in digital crime.
Police Colonel Pisit Pao-In, Deputy Commander of Thailand’s Technology Crime Suppression Division (TCSD) has insisted that cyber offences are now not only an abuse of information technology, but also criminal acts.
Police Colonel Pisit noted that Internet abusers have constantly developed new means to evade the authorities' tracking down, with latest activities including the use of wireless Internet aircard routers. The TCSD deputy chief, therefore, urged all public and private agencies in Thailand to strictly follow the laws and to establish their cyber security procedures, especially in keeping a “log file”, or Internet data transmission records, for the benefit of evidence should investigations be required.
Meanwhile, Police Colonel Yanapol Yangyuen, Deputy Director General of Thailand's Department of Special Investigation (DSI), recommended the use of password protection as a self-serving measure to safeguard personal computers against any unwanted information intrusion. (TNA)
