MONGOLIA TO FINANCE SOME PARTS OF AIRPORT PROJECT

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, /MONTSAME/ On Wednesday, a regular cabinet meeting discussed an issue of financial source for a project on constructing international airport of Ulaanbaatar city and selection of the construction executor.
The cabinet has considered as necessary to finance a main part of the construction of the project, being implemented under agreement between the government of Mongolia and the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC), as well as some construction with simple technologies. These will be financed with own domestic capital.
The Premier S.Batbold has obliged the Ministers of Road and of Finance to place necessary money in the state budget and to give reports on process of the works.
A primary design of the project was drawn up in January of the last year by an advisory company who calculated that a total cost of the international airport construction is JPY 47.1 billion. It turned to be higher than a preliminary calculation JPY 24.5 billion. In accordance with the loan agreement, the borrower takes urgent measures for providing the project with the money needed. It means that the Mongolian side must issue some MNT 121 billion in the first turn.
