COLLABORATION WITH UN IN PREVENTING POSSIBLE DISASTERS' AFTERMATH

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, /MONTSAME/ The Deputy Premier M.Enkhbold received Thursday Mrs. Sezin Sinanoglu, a United Nations Resident Coordinator and UNDP Resident Representative to Mongolia.
They have spoken about starting Mongolia-UN collaboration in determining risks and ensuring preliminary preparation in case of possible disasters. A permanent council runs under a leadership of the Deputy Premier to regulate activities of specialized organizations for preventing aftermaths of earthquakes, reducing risks and ensuring the preparedness and to provide them with a unified management. A meeting of the council is approaching to discuss activity plan of the collaboration with the UN.
The sides will begin implementing it after endorsing it by the UN management council in Mongolia. The plan has two main parts-- measures to be taken with the government of Mongolia, and evacuation of people in cases of possible disasters.
Mrs. Sinanoglu has asked the Deputy Premier to support an implementation of the plan, and granted a draft plan to him. She has said the UN worked out a method of alarming disaster warning together with the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA).
In response, the Deputy Premier has noted the preparedness contributes to preventing of aftermaths of earthquakes and to reducing loses, asking the UN to cooperate in running training and propaganda for the people.
