BOUNDARIES WIIL BE MARKED TO PROTECT RIVERS AND FORESTS FROM GOLD MINERS
Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, /MONTSAME/ On Wednesday, the Cabinet meeting discussed a issue of “Stage-by-stage delineating the boundaries of mineral mining-prohibited sources of rivers, reservoirs, forest resources”.
In view of this, the cabinet has approved an annex about step-by-step marking of these boundaries on territories of gold placers owned by people with special licenses. Anticipating the loss these people may bear due to this, the cabinet has obliged a working group and a Finance Minister to calculate compensations and reflect tem in a state budget.
It also has been told to issue from the Governmental reserves the money for estimating a damage to nature, caused by as mining on these areas, for closing the mines, and for rehabilitation.
The boundaries will protect 29 thousand 803 sq.km of river sources on a territory owned by holders of 17 licenses, 139 thousand 376 sq.km of reservoirs of a territory owned by holders of 92 licenses, and 174 thousand 142 sq.km of forest massives on a territory owned by people with 127 licenses.
