Consultative meeting on human rights, health launched in Sana'a
SANA'A, Sep. 09 (Saba)- A consultative meeting on human rights and
health was launched on Tuesday in Sana'a for 30 participants to
discuss the practical steps that must be taken to promote human
rights and health in Yemen.
During the meeting, Deputy Health Minister Jamila al-Rabeei affirmed
the importance of introducing the community to health rights and
duties.
They reviewed what has been achieved by WHO in the field of human
rights, health and what has been done by Yemen through the
ratification of most international conventions in this area.
They also reviewed a field study on health, nutritional and
educational status for children in Yemen for the age group (12 - 18
years) which was conducted during the period (2001 December -2003
February) in each of Amran, Lahj and Hadramout governorates.
The meeting was organized by the ministries of public health and
population, human rights, education and water, and a number of civil
society organizations working in the field of health and human
rights in collaboration with World Health Organization (WHO).
