Nijaifi, Petsalnikos discuss developing relations between Iraq, Greece

Baghdad (NINA) – Speaker of Parliament, Usama al-Nijaifi, discussed with his Greek counter part, Philippos Petsalnikos, means to develop relations between Iraq and Greece, and supporting the Joint Parliamentary Friendship Committee.

This came during Speaker Nijaifi's current visit to Greece, heading a Parliamentary delegation representing Parliament's political blocs.

The Speaker's Media Bureau said that Nijaifi expressed, "Hope that Greece adopts an important role in Iraq's economy, and it is time to initiate new horizon of relations in the interest of both countries."

For his part, Petsalnikos asserted, "Greek Parliament will urge the government of Greece to consolidate and develop the relations with Iraq."

During the meeting, Speaker Petsalnikos decorated Nijaifi a high Greek medal for his role in consolidating democracy in Iraq.
