Pak Navy can counter piracy threat
ISLAMABAD, June 08, 2011 (PPI): Pakistan Navy remains committed to take all necessary steps to counter the threat of piracy in maritime domain.
One of the foremost corner stone of the policy is to provide protection to our National Flag Carriers whenever they pass through Piracy prone areas particularly in Arabian Sea and Gulf of Aden.
One such example is Pakistan Navy support to MV HYDERABAD which commenced transit from North Arabian Sea to Eastern Mediterranean Port. Keeping in view the piracy threat in North Arabian Sea and Gulf of Aden, Pakistan Navy Ship was tasked to provide protection to MV HYDERABAD during her transit through Piracy Prone areas.
PNÎs support to National Flag Carriers has provided required impetus and confidence to our merchant community to undertake their transits more frequently under secure maritime environment.
