People warned of recurring 2009 H1N1 flu

BANGKOK, June 8 (TNA) - The Thai Ministry of Public Health has warned that the 2009 H1N1 influenza virus remains a major cause of influenza, advising people whose high temperatures do not drop within two days to see doctors, as they may have contracted the recurring 2009 swine flu.
Thai Public Health Ministry Spokesman Dr. Suphan Srithamma said that people who are particularly at risk of the deadly H1N1 viral strain include children, the elderly and those with chronic illnesses.
Dr Suphan cautioned that people can fall sick easily during the rainy season in Thailand currently--when the weather is highly humid, noting that common illnesses during this period are respiratory problems, including cold, influenza, pneumonia and the 2009 influenza.
Meanwhile, the ministry's Bureau of Epidemiology under the Department of Disease Control reported that there were a total of 10,664 patients in Thailand from January to mid-May 2011, most of them were infected with the 2009 influenza virus and five of them had died. (TNA)
