Russia-Belarus Union State PA to discuss social development
MINSK (Itar-Tass) - Social development of the Russia-Belarus
Union State until 2015 will be high on the agenda of a session of the
Union State's Parliamentary Assembly that opens in Minsk on Wednesday.
"One of the main issues on the agenda is the results of the
implementation of the Union State's social development strategy until 2010
and main areas for social development until 2015," the press service of
the Parliamentary Assembly said.
For fifteen years Russian and Belarussian parliamentarians had taken
many efforts to unify the two countries' legislations, said Vladimir
Andreichenko, speaker of the lower house of Belarussian parliament.
"Such fundamental acts as the treaties on equal rights of citizens, on
cooperation in social welfare and the whole range of agreements allowed to
resolve many issues related to ensuring equal rights of our citizens," he
said.
Moreover, at this session legislators plan to adopt a statement on
occasion of the 15th anniversary of the Union State initiative.
Parliamentarians will also consider development of a normative and
legal base on defence, law enforcement and security.
"Members of parliament believe that it is high time to develop a new
security strategy of the Union State following instability on the
international arena as a result of the continuing global economic and
financial crisis and events in North Africa and the Middle East,"
Andreichenko said.
They will also listen to a report of the Union State's Council of
Ministers on the 2009 budget that totalled 4.8 billion Russian roubles.
