Over 100,000 police will be mobilized for Thailand’s general election

BANGKOK, June 7 (TNA) - National police chief Wichean Potephosree, who heads the July 3 election security center, said on Tuesday he would deploy over 100,000 police officers at over 90,000 polling units to secure Thailand’s general election on July 3.
Police General Wichean also said that as the election was approaching, more MP candidates were getting more concerned about their safety. He noted that so far, 250 candidates have sought protection for their vote campaigns.
According to the Police General, there had been 4 cases of accusations among MP candidates and 1,057 campaign posters had been destroyed, most of which were in areas under the jurisdiction of the Provincial Police Region 1. Furthermore, 5 complaints had been filed against police officers alleging them for being politically biased. (TNA)
