MAKASSAR'S HOSPITALITY INDUSTRY TAKING ADVANTAGE OF RAMADHAN MONTH
Makassar, South Sulawesi province, Sept 9 (ANTARA) - The hospitality industry in Makassar is using the Ramadhan month to develop its services to customers, a spokesman said.
"The primary thing that hotel owners used to do during Ramadhan is annual renovation of such things as rooms, interiors, even entertainment facilities," the chairman of the Makassar branch of the Indonesian Hotel and Restaurant Ownsers Asscoition (PHRI), Anggiat Sinaga, said here Tuesday.
This year's fasting month was also used to do maintenance on supporting equipment such as laundry machines and generators, he said.
"Basic and advanced trainings for employee are also carried out to optimize the hotels' services," he said.
He admitted that hotel bookings in Makassar had decreased during Ramadhan because people reduced their activities during the fasting month.
"This year, room reservations were only 30 percent, while in each months before Ramadhan, the figure could reach 70 percent," he said.
The hospitality industry in Makassar was also trying to offer fast-breaking packages and provide famous preachers to draw people or corporations to use hotel facilities, he said.
