PRESIDENT CALLS ON ALL PARTIES TO JOINTLY OVERCOME NATION'S PROBLEMS
Jakarta, Sept 9 (ANTARA) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono appealed to all parties here on Tuesday to work together consistently to settle all problems faced by the nation.
"All problems will be overcome if we continue to seek their way out. Therefore we must not lose hope and be discouraged in carrying out our task," he said at a fast-breaking gathering at the palace.
The event which was held modestly coincided with his 59th birthday and therefore cabinet ministes attended the function along with their families.
On the occasion, the head of state asked for prayers and support from all components of the nation so that the United Indonesia cabinet could carry out its tasks until the end of its term on October 20 next year.
"Without support and cooperation from all parties, I will not be able to carry out my tasks well," he said.
Vice President Jusuf Kalla and his wife Mrs Mufida Kalla were also present at the gathering.
After breaking the fast and conducting prayers, President Yudhoyono cut a traditional birthday rice cone and gave some of it to Mrs Ani Yudhouyono and his two sons.
He said his birthday this year was special because it was done at the palace.
"Last year I celebrated my birthday while attending the APEC Summit in Australia and the year before in Finland and previously while visiting the regions," he said.
