Thai Deputy PM: It’s difficult to achieve national reconciliation

BANGKOK, June 7 (TNA) - The Thai caretaker deputy prime minister Suthep Thaugsuban admits that under current circumstances it is difficult to promote reconciliation among Thai political parties.

Mr Suthep, also Democrat Party secretary-general, commented Tuesday on an attempt by the chief adviser to the Chart Thai Pattana Party Banharn Silpa-archa to promote reconciliation between Democrat and Pheu Thai parties, saying it would be difficult.

Mr Suthep insisted that his party had shown utmost tolerance in promoting reconciliation and sought to solve national problems, even as the other party tried to disrupt his party’s vote campaign by distorting public view over recent crackdowns on red shirt protests. He noted that his party would soon hold a press conference to respond to all allegations.

Regarding a story published online via Facebook by Democrat Party leader Abhisit Vejjajiva, covering on his tenure as prime minister, Mr Suthep denied commenting if it would garner more votes for his Party in the July 3 election.

He noted however, people should know what actually happened in the country. (TNA)
