China hoping for breakthrough in gas talks with RF - FM.
BEIJING, June 7 (Itar-Tass) -- The Chinese side "hopes for a
considerable breakthrough" in the talks on supplies of Russian gas to
China even before the beginning of a visit of Chinese President Hu Jintao
to the Russian Federation, Assistant Foreign Minister Chen Guoping said in
Beijing on Tuesday.
The Chinese diplomat said that the head of the Chinese state will make
a state visit to Russia on June 15-18 to hold talks with Russian President
Dmitry Medvedev and meet with Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin. He
will also take part in the Petersburg International Economic Forum.
Chen Guoping recalled that the seventh round of the Russia-China
energy dialogue, in which Russian Deputy Prime Minister Igor Sechin and
Chinese Deputy Prime Minister Wang Qishan took part, was held in Russia in
late May - early June. Gazprom and China's CNPC are to conclude the talks
on long-term supplies of Russian gas to China before June 10.
