Int'l sugar forum to begin in Kursk Region Tuesday

KURSK, June 7 (Itar-Tass) - The 10th international sugar forum begins
its work at the Kursk Korenevo Fair exhibition center in Svoboda Township
in Korenevo District, on Tuesday.
The three-day forum and a specialized Sugar Business exhibition have
drawn more than 120 companies and over 1,000 agrarians and businessmen
from the following 18 countries: Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, Kazakhstan,
France, Germany, Austria, Belgium, Italy, Canada, the Netherlands, the
United States, Norway, Poland, Britain, Finland, Spain, and Turkey, Alexei
Zolotaryov, deputy chairman of the Kursk Region government, has told
Itar-Tass.
The forum has been organized by the the Union of the Sugar Producers
of Russia, Belgospishcheprom food industry organization (Republic of
Belarus) and the Association of Beet and Sugar Producers of the Republic
of Kazakhstan.
The forum is to include conferences to discuss sugar production and
the growing of sugar beet, and a roundtable meeting dealing with the
development of this sector in the Russian Federation and American
experience.
Russian Minister of Agriculture Yelena Skrynnik has pointed out in a
message of greetings to participants in the forum that the forum
proceedings "promote the implementation of the sectoral purpose-oriented
programme 'The Development of Sugar Beet Subsector of Russia in
2010-2012', the attraction of investments in a further development of the
domestic sugar industry, expansion of trade-and-economic contacts among
the sugar-beet growers and sugar industrialists of Russia, CIS and other
foreign countries, the introduction of the newest techniques resultant of
the science and technology development efforts, the propagation and use of
advanced experience in the work of domestic sugar producers".
