Wildfires disrupt power supply in Krasnoyarsk Territory

KRASNOYARSK, June 7 (Itar-Tass) - In Krasnoyarsk Territory, 20,000
people remain without electricity because of the damage of the pylons of a
power transmission line (PTL). Power supply to the building Boguchany
hydropower station has been switched over to reserve diesel generators
with an aggregate power of 1.5 megawatts.
This measure was taken after seven wooden pylons of a PTL supplying
electricity to Kezhma District of the Territory were burned down by
wildfires coming from Irkutsk Region on Monday afternoon.
An official at the Territorial center of the Russian Ministry for
Emergencies (RME) told Itar-Tass on Tuesday that remaining without
electricity are the town of Kodinsk and six other inhabited areas with a
population of 20,600. Emergency mode regulations have been introduced in
Kezhma District.
"Part of users have been supplied with electricity from diesel
generators: the district hospital, Kodinsk airport, a TB clinic in
Imbinsk. However, kindergartens are not functioning, with children sent
back home," the RME official specified.
Multi-storey buildings inodinsk are also without electricity. Local
residents refer to this power cut as a major emergency over the past years.
A damage control party from the northern power networks -- 30 people
and ten units of machinery -- arrived at the stricken PTL pylons on Monday
night from Bratsk.
According to an official of the Irkutsk Power Network Company, the PTL
operation will be restored tentatively on June 8.
