EC confident Thailand’s July 3 election will be acceptable

BANGKOK, June 6 (TNA) - The Election Commission of Thailand (EC) is confident that it can hold a fair election for the country on July 3 this year.
Election commissioner Prapun Naigowit made the remark on Monday, saying he believes the upcoming national poll will proceed smoothly with the support of all parties.
Mr Prapun said as part of the process any MP candidate concerned about their own safety can seek protection from police as well as the commission.
He added that over 100,000 students from non-formal educational institutes, among others, have also voiced interests to join poll unit committees to help supervise the forthcoming election.
Meanwhile, a team of EC investigators have begun probing into the widespread vandalism of campaign placards ahead of the election, which is regarded as a crime. (TNA)
