About 3,000 residential houses damaged in ammo blasts in Udmurtia
MOSCOW, June 6 (Itar-Tass) -- About 3,000 residential houses were
damaged in the blasts near an ammunition depot in Udmurtia, the press
service of the Volga regional emergencies center told Itar-Tass on Sunday.
"Some 4,441 houses from 4,900 houses, 33 socially important
facilities, 121 life-supporting facilities have been examined for the past
day. Some 2,808 residential houses, five boiler houses, nine health care
facilities, six educational institutions and seven cultural facilities
were found damaged," the press service said. All buildings sustained
typical damages, particularly the windows and doors were broken down and
the roof was damaged.
Five smoldering fires are still reported at the military unit, the
press service said. "The Udmurtia government has issued a resolution to
cancel an emergency situation regime in the republic," the press service
reported.
The military sappers have found nine highly explosive objects in the
search along the Minbayevo-Izhevsk gas pipeline within the technical zone
of the ammunition depot and in three neighbouring settlements. "Some 749
unexploded shells were found in the vicinity of the ammunition depot," the
press service said.
Some 100 people were injured, 42 people were hospitalized with various
injuries from the ammunition blasts. Some 2,566 residents of blast-hit
settlements received psychological consultations.
According to specified reports, 11,536 people went back to their
homes, but 396 people, including 60 children, are staying at temporary
shelters, and 340 children are accommodated at their relatives. "Some 102
families that include 292 people came back to the temporary shelters from
the town of Pugachevo, because their houses are unsuitable for living
until they are overhauled," the press service underlined.
