PRESIDENT MEETS D.MEDVEDEV

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, /MONTSAME/ Visiting Russia with the official visit, the President of Mongolia Ts.Elbegdorj held Tuesday an individual meeting with his Russian counterpart D.Medvedev in Moscow, and then the dignitaries ran expanded talks.
The Mongolian President has expressed his satisfaction with running systematic and fruitful talks for bringing the bilateral relations into a strategic partnership level and with perishing the traditional and friendly relations and cooperation. “The visit of the Russian President Medvedev to Mongolia in 2009 significantly contributed to restoring of the bilateral relations. Meetings of the State Heads, Prime Ministers, leaders of parliament and regional heads have been actively running, and political talks have been regularizing,” he added.
Despite an inrease in trade turnover between the two countries, some problems still exist that need a solution, Elbegdorj has said, hihglighting a willingness to make efforts to forward the trade and economic ties based on intensively developing economics of the two countries and traditional relations.
He has underlined a significant role of the inter-governmental commission on trade, economics, sciences and techniques in implementing specific projects in frames of the bilateral relations and cooperation, and added a draft program on developing the Mongolia-Russia trade and economic cooperation in 2011-2015 is being drawn up under auspices of the inter-governmental commission.
Ts.Elbegdorj has expressed a willingness to partake in regional development international projects, adding that in them Mongolia can be reliable and responsible partner. He has emphasized an importance of the boundary and regional ties, hoping that they will contribute to the bilateral partnership.
He has said Mongolia supports Russia's seeking the World Trade Organization (WTO) membership. The cultural and humanitarian ties are the important part of the traditional relations, he went on, thanking Russia for increasing a number of Mongolian students studying in Russia with its governmental scholarships.
In response, Mr. Medvedev has noted that the official visit of Mongolia's President started successfully. He has mentioned about opinion sharing on forwarding the relations and cooperation after his visit to Mongolia, and expressed a satisfaction with running the talks in all levels, and their outcome.
The Russian President has said he agreed with a requirement to put effort to boost economic cooperation, and hoped the biggest projects in infrastructure, transport and agriculture would be implemented successfully. “The size of the trade turnover between our countries reached some one billion US dollars last year increasing 40 per cent against 2009. This is a good news,” he has added.
Medvedev has underlined the ties in the humanitarian and cultural sectors have been intensifying. “230 Mongolian students study every year in universities and institutes of Russia with the governmental scholarships. I am glad to report that we have decided to augment the number of students to 300,” he has stressed.
The Russian President has emphasized an importance of meat and meat products export to Russia for both the countries. “22 spots to vaccinate livestock against foot-and-mouth and other diseases have been created, and some 30 million heads of big livestock will be vaccinated every year,” he has stressed.
Then the dignitaries have shared views on developing a cooperation in realizing the biggest investment projects. They have expressed a mutual willingness to restore an infrastructure of the “Ulaanbaatar Railway” joint venture, to strengthen its finance, to improve the collaboration in the railway sector, and to tackle matter on constructing new railways.
The Russian side has said that an order will be given to related organizations to seek opportunities to ensure a sustainable supply of oil products to Mongolia.
The sides have exchanged views on cooperating in the defense sector and in frames of the regional and international communities. The Russian side has expressed a willingness to study a proposal of Mongolia about strengthening the nuclear weapon-free status together with the nuclear weapon holder countries. Russia has appreciated an aspiration of Mongolia to actively participate in the economic collaboration of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).
The President Ts.Elbegdorj has thanked D.Medvedev for the warm welcome and invited him to Mongolia. The Russian leader has received the invitation thankfully.
