Lisa De Vanna part of Matildas' Cup squad

SYDNEY (AAP) - Controversial Matildas star Lisa De Vanna is on track for a recall to the national side after being picked in the final training squad for this month's FIFA Women's World Cup in Germany.
De Vanna's appearance at the quadrennial showpiece had been in doubt after her expulsion from the Matildas camp last month in the build up to a friendly against New Zealand in Gosford.
It was reported the 26-year-old's departure was due to several attitude-related indiscretions, including refusing to undertake media commitments, walking out of the team photograph and failing to fulfil training requirements.
Matildas coach Tom Sermanni said De Vanna had returned to the squad on the basis she followed certain undisclosed "obligations".
"Lisa has been allowed to return to the squad and will rejoin the team on the Gold Coast later this week," Sermanni said.
"There are some basic obligations Lisa has to perform to remain in the team and given she performs these to our satisfaction she has every chance of making the final squad to Germany."
De Vanna is a proven matchwinner for Australia and starred at the 2007 World Cup, scoring four goals as the Matildas reached the quarter-finals before falling to Brazil.
Meanwhile, star striker Sarah Walsh has been ruled out of the tournament due to a knee injury.
Walsh had been racing to overcome the injury in time for the World Cup, but said she did not want to risk further damage by contesting the Matildas' opening match against Brazil on June 29 in Moenchengladbach.
"The World Cup was a few steps ahead in relation to where I am in my rehab, and pushing it wasn't in the best interest of my knee at this stage and instead I will be focusing on getting myself fully fit for the Olympic qualifiers in September," the Sydney FC forward said.
The current 24-woman squad will be cut back to a final group of 21, to be announced in Sydney on June 8.
The World Cup starts on June 26.
