Thai political parties continue with vigorous vote campaigns
BANGKOK, June 1 (TNA) - Key figures and candidates of political parties in Thailand have continued with their vigorous campaigns ahead of the national poll on July 3.
Democrat Party leader Abhisit Vejjajiva and Democrat’s Bangkok campaign director Apirak Kosayodhin launched on Wednesday a vote campaign at the Nong-Chok market. Abhisit made the party’s policy known to local merchants and people at the market. He also examined prices of goods, especially the meat prices as he earlier instructed the Commerce Ministry to control the volatile prices.
Meanwhile, people in Ban Nong Nguak village of Pa Sang district in the northern province of Lamphun were preparing to receive Abhisit who was scheduled to arrive at the village at 11pm for further vote campaigns. The Caretaker Prime Minister would stay overnight at Wat Nong Nguak temple.
At the Pheu Thai Party, Police General Pracha Promnok, chief advisor to the party, said his party would review the party’s overall vote campaigns in the Northeast after all its candidates finished their campaigning there. He said he was now more concerned about the advanced polling and about the fact that some Pheu Thai candidates were overconfident in winning their constituency seats, with polls suggesting the party would gain more popularity.
