“Renewable Energy Asia 2011” kicks off in Bangkok

BANGKOK, June 1 (TNA) - An array of alternative energy technologies is showcased this week in Bangkok, as part of Thai public and private sectors' cooperation in relieving the global warming problem or climate change, especially those running energy projects.

The four-day event, titled “Renewable Energy Asia 2011”, kicked off on Wednesday at the Bangkok International Trade & Exhibition Centre (BITEC) in Bangna area, where recommendations and demonstrations on environmentally-friendly use of alternative energy are also provided for visitors until the event ends on June 4, along with a public floor opened for exchanges of views, as well as updated technologies and progress on energy conservation.

A public display of ground-breaking innovations, such as a solar-power generating farm developed by Thai experts, as well as wind and biomass power projects on supplying clean energy for communities, business operators and the region, is also part of the four-day event.

Other highlights include seminars on renewable energy projects and opportunities, water resources management and industrial energy conservation within the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and an ad hoc centre opened to give advice and guidance for the public on full-circle energy issues.
