Yala blasts kill two, injure six
YALA, June 1 (TNA) - Three bomb blasts in Thailand's southern Yala province have killed the deputy chief of Kabang district and a defense volunteer, while wounding six others.
The first blast occurred on Tuesday night at a local rubber plantation, injuring a local government official.
Early Wednesday morning, Asman Hormasa-eh, the deputy district chief, led security officers to examine the blast site when the second bomb exploded on a road, some two kilometers away from the scene of their investigation. Asman and a defense volunteer were instantly killed, with four others wounded, while their vehicle was completely damaged.
The third explosion struck when a bomb disposal officer treaded on a bomb while combing through the rubber plantation following a reported discovery of a suspicious object there. The officer was injured and rushed to the nearby Kabang hospital.
So far, police had sealed off the area pending further examination by bomb experts. (TNA)
